Electronic Digital Fingerprinting processing times effective January 2008

If you do not have a criminal record and have never been fingerprinted for a criminal offence in Canada, the RCMP will make every effort possible to process your request within 72 hours of receiving the electronic submission. The results will then be mailed to you or your designated representative. Please allow sufficient time for mail before commencing any inquires about the status of your application.

If the fingerprint search results in a “hit” to a criminal record there is no guaranteed turnaround time and the fingerprints are processed on a “best efforts” basis by the RCMP within the timelines outlined on their website (currently “in excess of 120 days”). Digital prints, as of the date of this memo, have been taking 2 to 3 months.

Fingerprints submitted via paper are currently taking 6 to 7 months to be processed.

The RCMP are making efforts to substantially reduce processing times. For up-to-date processing times you may contact our office at Calgary: 229-2774 ext 3 or Toll Free: 1-800-320-2477 ext 3.
